Hans (Hanyo) Smith October 27, 1947 – November 11, 2023

It is with great sadness we announce that our beloved Hans Smith has made his transition.
Hans made his transition at his home in Cleveland, Ohio, where he relocated several years ago to be near his son and grandchildren.
Hans was a long-time member of Center for Spiritual Living Capistrano Valley. He was a trained Prayer Partner and member of our Practitioner team, and still occasionally attended services virtually via livestream.
He was the constant loving presence during Sunday services, classes, and special events. Hans greeted folks who were new to our Center, had a hug and a “how’re you doin’?” for everyone he saw, and always with warmth and genuine care.
Hans was also a talented vocalist who performed at local venues around South Orange County during his time here. He was a long-time member of our Jewel Tones Choir, performing Sundays, and taking lead roles in our yearly choir shows. One of our favorite performances was “I’m Just a Choir Boy”.
