Launch of Love – Opening Your Heart
This month, I’m inviting us all to take a journey—a journey of rediscovering Love. Not the greeting card version, not the someday-when-it’s-perfect love, but the powerful, freeing energy of Love that lives in us, moves through us, and is waiting to be released more fully into the world.
Pierre Teilhard de Chardin famously said,
“Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And then, for a second time in the history of the world, humanity will have discovered fire.”
What if this is that time?
You might agree, but you might also be wondering with all the discord in the world today, how do we begin? Love always finds a way. Ernest Holmes, founder of Centers for Spiritual Living, reminds us, “Love points the way, and the Law makes the way possible.” I would amend that to say:
Love points the way, forgiveness makes the way clear, and the Law makes the way possible.
To truly open our hearts, we must also look at what’s in the way.
Forgiveness, to me, is not about letting someone off the hook. It’s about liberating ourselves from the burden of holding on. Sometimes forgiveness is swift, and sometimes the roots of resentment run deep. But no matter how it comes, forgiveness is the spiritual technology that clears the channel for Love to flow.
I’ve had to walk that road recently—again. Even after years of thinking my relationship with my father was healed, I realized there was another layer of forgiveness I hadn’t touched. I was still operating under unhealed patterns that took root in our relationship. The recognition came through the pain of repeating the same patterns in my other relationships until I finally asked: what am I still holding on to?
Despite being a practitioner of a consciousness philosophy, I have my blind spots. We all do. And sometimes it takes a trusted guide, a safe space, and enough inner weariness to finally say: I’m ready to be free. That’s what forgiveness offered me—a clearing. And in that space, love rushed in and freedom began to take hold.
To help us open the way, the Buddhist tradition offers us their Four Immeasurable Minds which beautifully complements many of today’s spiritual paths:
- Loving-Kindness: The willingness to love without condition.
- Compassion: Forgiveness in action.
- Joy: Noticing what arises when we let love pass through us.
- Equanimity: Trusting that Love is everywhere, even when we can’t yet feel it.
When we align with these qualities, we stop creating from the wounds of our past and start creating from the freedom of our present awareness.
So I leave you with these three reflection questions to help you launch your own journey into greater love this week:
- Where in my life am I ready to say “yes” to more love?
- What belief or thought pattern do I need to release or forgive within myself?
- Is there someone I need to forgive, if only in my heart?
Be gentle with yourself as you do your reflection. You don’t need to fix anything. Just start with being willing—and remember:
Love always meets us at the level of our willingness.
Namaste, friends. Let’s rediscover fire—together.
