SUNDAYS: Meditation 10–10:15am (in-person only) • Gathering & Music 10:30am (in-person and virtual)

This month’s newsletter is a little late, mostly because I was waiting for inspiration to whisper this blog post in my ear.

School ends in a couple of days. My daughter is graduating from high school. As a school librarian, my “to-do” list overflows. Stuff to do at work….stuff to do at home.

Not wanting to let one more day pass without writing, I said to myself, “How will I ever get quiet enough to write this article?”

Inspiration whispered back, “Write about that.” Aha!

We all experience lives bubbling over with activity and tasks. I’m extremely grateful for all I have to do. It means my kids are close and healthy. I’m engaging with life! And sometimes, the tasks that require quiet and thought get pushed to the back burner for when things calm down. But here’s the thing I realized.

It only takes a moment of conscious awareness to ask the question and receive a clear answer. Less time than a single breath. Asking and listening. In my case, it happened when I stopped “trying” to write and instead asked a question. Spirit blessed me with inspiration; I sat down at the computer and together we wrote this post.

Asking and listening. The theme for this month is Listening to Our World. It dawned on me that our world doesn’t necessarily refer to our planet and the exterior “world,” but rather the internal “world.” The perspectives, judgments, worries, explanations, hopes, dreams, cares, hurts that fill up our interior lives. Take a moment and pay attention to what you’re saying to yourself and, instead of immediately moving on, allow a heartbeat to listen for Awareness to creep in with clarity or guidance or wisdom.

Spirit is always present and responding; we just need to make space for the download.
