Consciousness is defined in the Science of Mind textbook as “mental awareness.”

Building on yesterday’s theme of mindfulness, we expand it by moving into consciousness.  Our consciousness is our choice to create what we want in life.  With a consciousness of awareness, we are able to co-create with God, our greatest life.  With unconsciousness, life appears to “happen” to us and we journey through life with a roller-coaster-style experience.

We have a choice, every minute of every day, to live consciously or not.  When we, as individuals live consciously, we model for the world, spiritual living.  This spreads the consciousness of Truth across the planet.

Living consciously means we decide the outcome we want in every moment of every day, and we support that outcome in our thoughts, actions and words.  We create joy in our lives by being joy.  We face life’s toughest times with the consciousness of joy knowing that, within each hardship, there is a lesson and a blessing.  Consciousness emanates from each of us onto others we meet in our daily lives.

Today’s Spiritual Principle:  Consciousness

Quote:

“The key to growth is the introduction of higher dimensions of consciousness into our awareness.” Lao Tzu

Affirmation:

Today, I understand the power of my consciousness and choose only thoughts of Oneness, compassion and understanding.

Practice:

Sit quietly for ten minutes.  Contemplate a circumstance in your life that you would like to change.  How was that circumstance created and where was your consciousness around it?  If you are new to spiritual work, this may be difficult, as it is sometimes hard to understand how we create the very things in our lives that we want to change.

It’s important to understand this, because when we realize the consciousness that created that circumstance, we then have the power to change our thoughts, which raises our consciousness, and improves our life circumstance.
