Dr. Heather Dawn Clark
Dear Ones,
As we move into a brand new year, I invite you to join me in a whole year of activating our spirituality. Two of my favorite ministers from the United Centers for Spiritual Living, Rev. Chris Michaels from Kansas City and Dr. Edward Viljoen from Santa Rosa have created a beautiful year-long journal. It was Rev. Chris' idea to create a way that his church community could activate their spirituality on a daily basis instead of just attending to it on Sundays and Wednesdays. The journal is entitled: "Spirit is Calling, Daily Journal."
Rev. Chris describes the process this way: "Each day has a theme which coincides with a monthly theme based on twelve core values. Every day has an inspirational quote, a short essay written by Edward or myself, and space to journal personal thoughts, feelings and dreams. The daily themes all tie in to the Sunday lesson for that particular week for all of 2008! Quite literally, everyone in our churches will now be on the same page, practicing their spirituality on a daily basis."
How exciting this is! I will be speaking on the same themes as several of my colleagues in addition to Dr. Edward and Rev. Chris, I will join with Dr. Dennis Merritt Jones and many others.
The theme for January is Activating Spirituality. I will be reminding you of our spiritual roots, our core beliefs. In February, the theme is Activating Love.
What I particularly like about this yearly theme is the word "activate," which means to set in motion, turn on, trigger, start, get going, stimulate, galvanize, initiate, or motivate. I feel that this word is steeped in energy and aliveness. Some of our members and friends have been experiencing major challenges in their lives as we complete 2007. By activating our spirituality, we will attract corresponding changes in our world. It is our next step towards greater consciousness of prosperity, health, joy, creativity, peace and love.
Let's ACTIVATE OUR SPIRITUALITY IN 2008!
Love,
Heather
