It is my extreme pleasure to welcome you to the 2009 Adventure in Faith program.our annual program of spiritual and financial commitment. As chair this year, one of my main goals is to have it be a fun program, and I believe our teams have done just that.
I have been a member of this Center since 1985, and have seen many changes to the Adventure in Faith program. Change is inevitable, and if we aren't flexible like the willow, we can't adapt. We can learn much from nature. The rose doesn't cry in the spring because it looks bland, has thorns and people dismiss it as homely. Its inner knowing flows with the process of life and soon it becomes the fabulous rose bush with fragile fragrant flowers that are admired by all. This year's Adventure in Faith has many changes as well, in the way some of the committees have been set-up and program changes have been made to make it easier and more fun for everyone: more art for the auction, a new slant on the celebration, and more involvement by the youth, which always brings smiles from everyone.
A team of ten dedicated, talented committees have been working joyously putting together the programs for our October program. This year, it is based on the book, Soul Currency: Investing Your Inner Wealth for Fulfillment & Abundance, written by Rev. Ernie Chu, Assistant Minister of the Fort Lauderdale Center of Spiritual Living. Each of the four weeks has a theme: Love, Wealth, Belief, and Connection, of which will be tied into the Wednesday night and Sunday services.
Rev. Chu has graciously written our four-week Study Guide for our Sacred Circle study groups. Because of the way it is written, it won't be imperative for you to purchase the book, but it will accent your study. Books are on sale in our bookstore at 20% off - $18.37. I encourage each of you to use these Sacred Circle groups as one of your spiritual practices during October, to renew your faith in the Principle.
Rev. Chu will be our guest speaker on Sunday October 11 for both services. The teens have generously offered to have a salad bar after services that day so we can all be ready for the 1:30 p.m. workshop Rev. Chu will present.
As a former member of the New York Stock Exchange, and an entrepreneur, Rev. Chu took on over a million dollars in debt to avoid filing for bankruptcy, when a start-up business failed. Following spiritual principles, he was able to resolve his debt within 18 months. He will be offering private consultations, for a fee, on the following days: Saturday, October 10, and Monday, October 12, (and possibly Tuesday), between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.. A sign-up sheet, with cost of fees, will be available the last week in September.
In How to Use the Science of Mind, Ernest Holmes writes: "The necessity of choosing is ordained by the very nature of our being, and we cannot escape it. We are at liberty to choose what manner of life we shall live." (Page 5). Adventure in Faith is an excellent time to rethink our past choices and patterns of living and begin anew, so we can be in a place to know we deserve and receive all the good God intends us to have-our heaven on earth, to encourage each of you to participate as fully as possible. Don't miss out! Stay tuned!

Adventure In Faith, 2009

Adventure in Faith is that time of year when we go within more deeply, explore our beliefs, and perform a house cleaning of the soul. It's the time of year when we recommit ourselves - to our own highest good, our families, our community and to our Spiritual Center. Truly, they are the same thing!
Take a few moments now to think about any insecurities, fears, or false beliefs that have crept into your thinking during the past year. You will be reminded why these are simply not the Truth of you.
Now, think about your heart's desire, your highest good. This is your perfect right!
During the month of October, we have the opportunity to experience four unique spiritual practices that pave the path to your best life! Join us each Wednesday evening, for an evening of talk, sharing, meditation, release and transformation.
That's every Wednesday in October, at 7 p.m. I'll see you there!

Since before humankind kept written records, people have gathered together to learn and share, to experience and reveal the Divine, to chant and meditate. These gatherings have been called many things - at the Center for Spiritual Living Capistrano Valley we call them Sacred Circles.
During the month of October, Adventure in Faith is sponsoring eleven Sacred Circles. Each group is comprised of up to ten members, with meeting locations stretching from San Clemente to Lake Forest.
Each Circle will meet once a week for four weeks, to chant, meditate, share and learn. Sacred Circles are intimate and all sharing is confidential. What is said in the Circle, stays in the Circle.
Topics are based on the weekly Adventure in Faith themes, and the book, Soul Currency: Investing Your Inner Wealth for Fulfilment & Abundance. This book isn't required reading, but it is an amazing resource.
When you sign up for a Circle, you will receive a 20% discount when you purchase Soul Currency at the center's bookstore. At your first meeting, you will be given a workbook designed by Rev. Ernie, as the author is affectionately known.
